Aaron Rodgers credits recent practice surge to revisiting his glory days

Aaron Rodgers has been studying some old game film prior to practice.

The Green Bay Packers didn’t do much to build upon their roster this past offseason, allowing other NFC teams to leapfrog them in the NFL power rankings, so to speak. Instead of providing quarterback Aaron Rodgers with weapons, they opted to draft players for the future. So, Rodgers took a page of the Thanos playbook and said that he’ll lead the Packers to the promised land by himself if he has to.

Rodgers has been gaining some buzz in training camp for his performance in drills, and there’s reason for that. The Packers signal caller was watching game film from his 2010 season and noticed that there was a piece of his game that needed correcting. Of course, being the ultimate competitor that he is, Rodgers didn’t divulge in any details.

“It kind of hit me,” Rodgers said, via PackersNews.com. “And I know it was 10 years ago, but the next day I went out to practice and started working on what I saw on the film, and the last couple days kind of happened.”

Rodgers looking to return to his elite years

2010 isn’t a bad season for Rodgers to study, because that was the year that Rodgers won his first-ever Super Bowl.

In 16 games, Rodgers completed 65.7-percent of his passes for 3,922 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. While those stats aren’t elite, his playoff run was the stuff of legend. In those four playoff games, Rodgers threw for 1,092 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions, all on a 68.2 completion percentage. 304 yards and three of those touchdowns came in Green Bay’s 31-25 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl 45.

That was Rodgers’ last trip to the Super Bowl, and he’s looking to make at least one more run to the big game to hopefully bring home another Lombardi Trophy. The Packers didn’t do him any favors by being quiet in free agency and trading up in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft to select his eventual replacement Jordan Love. But those things are deterring him during preparation for his 16th season.

Rodgers did what many professional athletes should be doing: studying game film to further improve their skills. You never know what you might pick up when watching the tapes. That act is doing wonders for Rodgers in practice.
