Five-star running back Camar Wheaton announced his top choices and a pair of SEC football teams make the cut for the talented recruit.

As the COVID-19 pandemic totally flipped college football upside down, coaches and recruiting staff have been forced to adjust how they interact and build relationships with recruits.

One way things have changed is that many recruits are taking virtual visits to various programs. But despite the lack of in-person interaction between recruits and staff, colleges are still making their case to prospects and the recruiting world continues to push forward.

And it continued to push forward on Tuesday morning when 5-star running back Camar Wheaton released his list of top-three schools.

Wheaton’s release came as a bit of a surprise since he was originally scheduled to name his top-two schools on Monday night, but instead announced three contenders early Tuesday morning.

The Texas native named LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma as his current top options.

Five-star running back Camar Wheaton has named Alabama, LSU and Oklahoma as his finalists but it’s the Sooners who appear to be in the lead.

Wheaton is ranked as the No. 2 overall running back in the 2021 recruiting class, according to 247 Sports and the 18th best overall prospect in his class. And throughout his first three varsity seasons, he has rushed for an impressive 3,128 yards and 40 touchdowns.

Although LSU and Alabama are still very much in play for Wheaton, his recruitment has clearly been trending in the Sooners’ direction recently.

Over the weekend, Wheaton attended the Sooner Summit which was a recruiting event put on by five-star Oklahoma quarterback commit Caleb Williams. And as of now, all of Wheaton’s crystal ball predictions are in favor of the Sooners.

Wheaton has also praised Oklahoma’s offensive success and says that he feels very welcome within the program.

Despite his love of Oklahoma, there is still a lot of time between now and when he has to make a final decision in winter, and lots of things can certainly change by then. But regardless of where Wheaton commits, that program will receive a great player.
