Ohio State was named best program for defensive backs over LSU.

College football teams seem to constantly argue over who has the best talent at a certain position, which would then give them the honor of being a specific position “University”, such as offensive line U or defensive back U.

And in terms of who is DBU, it always seems to include arguments between Ohio State, LSU, Florida and Miami.

On Tuesday morning, ESPN’s David Hale released his Position U 2.0 rankings of best schools based on recent talent at each position over the past few seasons, and the Ohio State Buckeyes came in at No. 1 for DBU, over the LSU Tigers who came in at No. 2.

This goes against LSU and other college football fans who have previously stated their belief that LSU is clearly the best team for defensive back talent. Especially with incredibly talented players like Grant Delpit, Greedy Williams and Jamal Adams who have all worn the purple and gold recently.

Ohio State has had many great defensive backs as well

Despite the fact that LSU certainly has produced a great deal of high-level defensive backs, the Buckeyes have done the same as well, and even outdid the Tigers in last years’ NFL draft.

Two former Ohio State secondary studs in cornerbacks Jeff Okudah and Damon Arnette were selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, which brings OSU’s total to eight first-round defensive backs in the past seven drafts, which includes Denzel Ward and Marshon Lattimore who have made an instant impact on their NFL teams. And Shaun Wade looks like he will only make this run of great defensive backs even more impressive.

Although, LSU has a great, young cornerback in Derek Stingley Jr. who also seems like a lock to be a future top-five pick.

Despite all the arguments and heckling over who truly has the best defensive backs in college football, it is undeniable that both LSU and Ohio State have had great secondaries recently, which is what helps make them two of the best teams in college football.
