Alex Rodriguez is not taking losing the New York Mets bid very well at all.

Alex Rodriguez is beside himself that he lost the New York Mets bid to Steve Cohen.

According to The New York Post, “Alex Rodriguez is fuming over losing the Mets to billionaire Steve Cohen and griping that the process was rigged.” Rodriguez’s group reportedly offered $2.3 billion to buy the Mets, while Cohen’s group offered slightly more at $2.35 billion. He said he would have been willing to offer more, but the Wilpons are only looking at Cohen’s group now.

Should Alex Rodriguez be furious about getting boxed out of the Mets’ sale?

As they say, baseball is a game of failure. If you fail 70 percent of the time at the plate, you can still make it to Cooperstown, something that evades Rodriguez, but we’re not going to get into that right now. What this is about is A-Rod and his fiancee J-Lo not buying able to buy the Mets. Jenny from the block knows that love don’t cost a thing, but the Mets sure do, and that’s a damn shame.

Waiting for tonight, we still can’t believe A-Rod and J-Lo can’t own the Mets. They would have brought that je ne sais quoi to an NL East franchise needing some juice, and not that kind of juice. The Wilpons have been among the worst owners in the MLB and the Mets and their owners have paid a price for it. It was a golden opportunity for A-Rod, but one that he doesn’t have anymore.

While it remains to be seen how the negotiating process goes between the Wilpons and Cohen’s group, let’s hope for a bright future for the Mets tomorrow. They have plenty of exciting players on their team, including Pete Alonso, Robinson Cano, Jacob deGrom, Jeff McNeil and Noah Syndergaard. Stars want to play in the Big Apple as well, so hopefully things change for the Mets.

Though Rodriguez didn’t get his wish, maybe he’ll be able to buy another team in a few years?
