Nick Chubb isn’t letting money cloud his vision for the 2020 season.

Nick Chubb has been an absolute star for the Cleveland Browns since making his debut in 2018. He has rushed for a combined 2,490 yards and 16 touchdowns in his first two seasons and just missed out on taking home the NFL rushing title in 2019.

Chubb is also an absolute bargain for the Browns. He is set to earn $1.1 million in 2020 in what will be the third year of a four-year contract. That means he is due for a nice extension soon. Having him enter the 2021 season without one would likely lead to a holdout.

But the young back has been a great professional and a recent ProFootballTalk article shared how he is not thinking about money this season.

Nick Chubb focusing on the season

The article features a quote from Chubb in which he acknowledges knowing about the other big deals being handed out to running backs, but he claims he will worry about that later on. That is a mature approach and a smart one. Chubb likely knows he can demand a deal in the range of $12-16 million annually if he has another great year.

A key for Chubb will be performing in the passing game. That will help drive us his value even further. He has a combined 56 receptions in two seasons and that came with a general lack of competence from those running the offense.

Kevin Stefanski is now in charge and showed a knack for properly utilizing his running backs while in Minnesota. That is great news for Chubb and for the team as a whole.

Just getting to the 1,000-yard mark should ensure the Browns get Chubb signed to a new deal following the season. Not doing so would just be a “same old Browns” move that needs to be done away with if the team is going to succeed.
