The Seattle Seahawks are bringing back Josh Gordon as he awaits reinstatement to the NFL.

Josh Gordon is going to get another shot in the NFL, and it’ll be in a familiar place.

According to Jeremy Fowler from ESPN, the Seattle Seahawks are going to bring back Gordon on a new deal with the expectation that he’ll be reinstated by the NFL for the 2020 season.

Adam Schefter also reported that the Seahawks had been working out Gordon in Seattle, which has helped give them a good idea of what kind of player he’ll be on the field for them.

Gordon has been suspended five times by the league for violating its substance abuse policy, most recently while a member of the Seahawks. He had a much-publiczied stint in Cleveland and then landed in New England where he was incredibly valuable to Tom Brady’s offense when he was able to suit up.

Seattle Seahawks now have an offense that needs to be feared

That’s long been the reward to the risk in bringing Gordon on. When he’s on the field, Gordon is one of the most dynamic receiving threats in the entire league. In 2013, despite being part f a putrid Browns offense, Gordon was able to break through and shine by leading the league in receiving yards. Try naming the Browns quarterbacks that year and let it sink in just how good Gordon can be.

Now he has Russell Wilson, and he’ll join a receiving duo in Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf that becomes a three-headed monster of potential production. Seattle has long been a defense-first team, which has been to the incredible detriment of Wilson. But as long as the offensive line can stay healthy, Wilson could be in for a career year with three absolutely solid targets that all offer similar but different skillsets.

Gordon staying on the field has been a career-long question mark. But assuming he’s able to get in a full year with Seattle, the Seahawks are going to be a very big problem for everyone else in the NFC.
