Todd Frazier is back with the New York Mets, and the man from Toms River, NJ hit a home run in his first game back at Citi Field

This past Monday, New York Mets fans feared that the team would make a dangerous and unnecessary move at the MLB trade deadline to make a push for the postseason. That didn’t happen, but the team did make small additions in the final minutes ahead of the deadline. One of those players was Todd Frazier, who played third-base for the Mets through the 2018-19 seasons. Frazier wasn’t expected to make an impact on this team, but he’s done just that in his return game to Citi Field.

During Thursday’s game against the New York Yankees, Frazier broke a 4-0 deficit by hitting a solo home run to right field off pitcher JA Happ to put the Mets on the board. What a way to make an impact, especially against Frazier’s former team in the Bronx Bombers.

A return to normalcy for Frazier

Frazier signed a one-year, $5 million with the Texas Rangers this past offseason. But, with the team sitting well behind the Oakland Athletics and Houston Astros in the AL West standings, the Rangers opted to trade Frazier back to Queens, NY for a player to be named later. Additionally, the Mets brought Frazier’s Texas teammate in catcher Robinson Chirinos in a separate trade.

Entering Thursday’s Subway Series finale, Frazier is slashing .230/.310/.363, while hitting two home runs and seven RBI. You can now add another homer and RBI to that stat-line.
