Finn Balor walks out of NXT Super Tuesday II as the NXT champion, while Rhea Ripley stands tall in the steel cage.

Two major matches were planned for NXT Super Tuesday II and they both delivered. At the end of the night, Finn Balor left with the NXT championship in tow while Rhea Ripley stood tall after a crazy battle in a cage against Mercedes Martinez.

Balor and Adam Cole started out the night with a highly-anticipated one-on-one match. Balor and Cole have similar background across other promotions and their styles meshed perfectly for this match. They had each other well-scouted. The longer this match went, the more counters were delivered and close pin falls. Both men hit their specialty attacks, but neither were able to get the finish.

However, the end cam when Balor hit a version of the 1916 from the top rope, which was enough to put Cole away for the victory. This is Balor’s second reign as NXT champion, one that comes years after he was the first to set the record for longest reign. A record that we eventually broken by Cole.

Martinez versus Ripley was the main event of the evening. Robert Stone continued to try to be a best in the side of Ripley, and that included bringing in Martinez to take out the former champion. Kendo sticks, steel chairs and a table were all brought in this match, used in violent fashions. Stone even tried to get involved but he failed as he tends to do. The big moment of the match came when Ripley hit the Riptide from the top, through a table to get the pin fall victory on Martinez.

Velveteen Dream was successful in a quick match against Ashante Adonis, but that was not the main takeaway from his appearance. A previous aggression against Kushida came back to haunt Dream as the former New Japan star returned to lay an assault down on Dream, before walking away with his victim left in a heap.

Bronson Reed defeated Austin Theory

Bronson Reed and Austin Theory had some animosity to put to bed after their encounter last week. The one-on-one match was a great way to feature the newer talent on NXT as they delivered with a strong performance. The story of the match was Reed being able to overpower Theory, specifically attacking his lower back. Theory attempted to lift Reed at the end of the match, but it ended up costing him. Reed hit a senton on Theory’s lower back before landing the big splash from the top for the pin fall.

Killian Dain came out to the ring with the intention of getting revenge on Roderick Strong of the Undisputed Era. For the last few weeks, this group has attacked both Dain and Drake Maverick, which put Dain out for blood in this singles affair. Dain overpowered Strong multiple times in this match and looked like he was on his way to a victory. Unfortunately, a distraction by Bobby Fish cost Dain the match.
