FanDuel Fantasy Golf: Safeway Open player selections
By Hans Geevers
This week, the PGA Tour presents the FanDuel/DFS community with the Safeway Open! Let’s take a look at this event from a fantasy golf perspective.
Before I discuss my FanDuel player selections I wanted to clearly state that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a FanDuel GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!
Here are my FanDuel player selections for the Safeway Open!
Harold Varner III $10,500
The American has two top 29 finishes in his last three events on the PGA Tour, including a seventh place result at the Wyndham Championship last month.
Varner III is currently ranked 15th in GIR (greens in regulation-70.57%), 17th in strokes gained off the tee (.458), and eighth in strokes gained tee to green (1.145) on the PGA Tour.
Cameron Davis $10,300
The 25 year old Australian has three top 29 finishes in his last four events on the PGA Tour, including a 15th place result at the Wyndham Championship last month. Additionally, Davis finished 17th at the 2018 Safeway Open.
Davis currently ranks 14th in birdie or better percentage (24.04%) and 21st in par five scoring average (4.55) on the PGA Tour.
Henrik Norlander $9,800
The 33 year old has six top 25 finishes on the PGA Tour in the last ten months, including a sixth place result at the Memorial Tournament in July.
In relation to this week’s current listed Safeway Open field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Norlander ranks ninth in strokes gained approach, seventh in scrambling, and seventh in driving accuracy.
Cameron Tringale $9,500
Tringale has eight top 30 finishes on the PGA Tour in the last 12 months, including a third place result at the 3M Open in July.
In relation to this week’s current listed Safeway Open field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Tringale ranks fifth in bogey avoidance, seventh in strokes gained approach, and eighth in scrambling.
