Jalen Reagor is back on the practice field for the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of Week 1.

The Philadelphia Eagles drafted TCU receiver Jalen Reagor with the No. 21 overall pick this year as the team looks to breathe some life in the receiving corps. That is why it was so disappointing when the rookie suffered a shoulder injury during practice at the end of August.

The initial reports listed him out for three or four weeks. That put Week 2 as a likely target for his return. But Reagor is out on the practice field Wednesday as the Eagles prepare for a Week 1 matchup against Washington.

Jalen Reagor back on the field

Reagor practicing in pads is a great sign for the Eagles. Alshon Jeffery is already out and that leaves DeSean Jackson and Greg Ward as the top receivers. Having Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert helps soften the blow of the injuries.

The key now will be to make sure Reagor is not rushed back into action if his injury is not fully healed. The Eagles are already favorites against Washington and the rookie may need some more time at practice considering there was not a preseason.

The sight of Reagor on the practice field is the good news in this situation. The Eagles were decimated at receiver last season and open this season with Jeffery and his $15.4 million cap hit out with an injury.

Reagor was the fourth receiver off the board and will be looked at as a future number one receiver for the Eagles. He finished his college career with only 43 receptions for 611 yards in 2019 and his NFL career will be compared to Justin Jefferson, who was taken a pick later by the Minnesota Vikings.

Next. Eagles still want to trade Alshon Jeffery. dark

Eagles fans must remember Reagor is still a rookie and is also returning from an injury before playing in a single game. Making sure he is healthy is the first step. Then comes the analysis of his potential moving forward.
