Markus Allen may not be sticking with Michigan football after all.

Markus Allen has re-opened his recruitment after de-committing from Michigan football.

The three-star wide receiver from Clayton, Ohio had been committed to the Michigan Wolverines since April 28, 2020. Though Michigan was his most prestigious offer of the 30 he has garnered thus far, apparently, he wasn’t getting the love from the Wolverines. He tweeted out on Wednesday, Sept. 9 that he was back on the market after thanking Jim Harbaugh and Josh Gattis.

Where will Markus Allen end up playing his college football at now?

Allen was a lock to go to Michigan until he wasn’t. This is a big reason his de-commitment from the Wolverines is so shocking. With 14 other Power 5 offers, it may end up serving Allen to at least look around before possibly re-committing to Michigan football. If he were to go elsewhere, keep an eye on one of these four teams: Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

The Cincinnati Bearcats may be Group of 5, but the Clayton native is right outside of Dayton, Ohio, which isn’t all that far from Cincinnati. Luke Fickell is a fantastic coach and has made great headway with the absurd amount of top-flight talent inside of the state of Ohio. Though another Group of 5 contender may emerge, Cincinnati could be the AAC team to get him to flip.

The Iowa State Cyclones and the Wisconsin Badgers feel like dark horses. Yes, Matt Campbell has built up a heck of a program in Ames, but he’s more of a defensive-minded coach more than anything. Paul Chryst has done a wonderful job in Madison, but Wisconsin’s program is notoriously ground-centric. They are in the mix because these are perennial top-25 teams with there coaches.

And then there’s Mark Stoops’ Kentucky Wildcats. This is the one to pay very close attention to. The Wildcats were one of the two most recent teams to offer him before committing to Michigan.  Stoops hails from Youngstown and has dominated recruiting Ohio since taking over Big Blue nearly a decade ago. The prospect of playing close to home and in the SEC is very appealing.

Though Kentucky may never win the SEC East while Allen is in college, they will win seven-to-nine games every full regular season as long as Stoops remains the head coach. Players not only get drafted high playing at UK, but they end up winning awards with the Wildcats. Look no further than All-Americans Josh Allen and Lynn Bowden Jr. in recent years. Big Blue may have an in here.

Allen may re-commit to Michigan in due time, but this leaves the door wide open for him to UK.
