Emotions were high all-around as Jett Bush earned a full scholarship after beginning his career as a Texas football walk-on.
It doesn’t get any better than seeing scholarship surprise videos. They never get old. Texas Longhorns sophomore linebacker Jett Bush was rewarded for his hard work with a full scholarship. When head coach Tom Herman called his parents, you can sense the joy and genuine happiness they had for Bush at this moment.
Bush came to the Longhorns as a two-star preferred walk-on out of Strake Jesuit High School in Houston. He held offers from Air Force, Incarnate Word, Harvard and others. He was ranked the No. 3,057 best player in the nation, the No.145 linebacker and the No. 455 best player in Texas according to the 247Sports Composite.
Walk-ons have so much more to prove in order to earn a scholarship and as you will see, Bush and his parents appreciated the love and support he received from his teammates and coaches.

Jett Bush appeared in two games as a freshman in 2019 but looks to make a big impact on the Texas football defense as a sophomore in 2020
Now that Bush has that security, if you will, he cannot get complacent. After playing two games during the 2019 season, he has to work even harder to help his team win. The Longhorns open the 2020 season against the UTEP Miners on Saturday on The Longhorn Network and it will be exciting to see if Bush has a monster game.
The Longhorns look to have another winning season under Herman after they went 8-5 overall and beat the No. 11 Utah Utes, 38-10, in the Alamo Bowl.
