If the Kansas City Chiefs can run the ball consistently, the NFL is in trouble

Sure, the Chiefs feature the best QB on the planet in Patrick Mahomes, but with a capable running back in tow on Clyde Edwards-Helaire, they somehow got even scarier offensively in 2020. CEH was the team’s first-round pick out of LSU this April, and came in handy right away with Damien Williams’ decision to sit out the season due to COVID-19.

Edwards-Helaire was the catalyst for a 16-play drive which traversed over 90 yards on Thursday night. Mahomes found Sammy Watkins at the goal-line to put Kansas City up late in the half, but it was Edwards-Helaire who was the star of the series.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire is just getting started for the Chiefs

We’re only midway through the first game of the NFL season, and we already felt the need to write up a CEH newser. That should tell you all you need to know.

Edwards-Helaire is an all-around back, and developed his receiving skills out of the backfield in his final year in Baton Rouge. Andy Reid plans to use him in all kinds of situations, making him the definition of an all-purpose, all-around running back.

Regardless of whether the numbers reflect it on a week-to-week basis (fantasy owners hope they do), Edwards-Helaire brings a new facet to a Chiefs offense that quite frankly didn’t need to improve whatsoever.

Next. Clyde Edwards-Helaire should be a Rookie of the Year frontrunner. dark
