Trying to find linebackers to fill in for standout Von Miller is proving to be much more difficult than the Broncos imagined.

When superstar linebacker Von Miller went down with his season-ending ankle injury, hearts broke for Denver Broncos fans everywhere. Miller, one of the best ‘backers in the game, is the heart and soul of the Denver defense.

Now, the front office is shuffling around trying to bring in some much-needed help for the linebackers room. Unfortunately for John Elway, trying to bring in that help for the defense is proving to be much more difficult than he and Denver anticipated.

The Broncos recently struck out trying to sign Clay Matthews and Cam Wake

Per multiple reports, the Broncos tried getting contracts done with veteran linebackers Clay Matthews and Cam Wake this week, but the money put on the table wasn’t enough to convince the free agents to head to Denver.

Trying to find a replacement for Miller, however, feels like an impossible task. The three-time All-Pro superstar was getting ready to start his 10th campaign in the NFL, all with the Broncos. Thus far in his incredible career, Miller has recorded 490 tackles and a whopping 106 sacks.

In 2019, Miller posted eight sacks and 46 tackles in 15 starts. Those eight sacks were actually his lowest total since 2013 (five sacks), which shows just how tremendous he’s been fighting through would-be blockers and getting to opposing quarterbacks.

Unfortunately, he’ll now be sidelined for the entire 2020 campaign, which obviously is an earth-shattering blow for the Broncos. To make matters worse, the front office isn’t having much luck so far in trying to get new bodies into town. With the season-opener coming on Monday against the Titans, we’ll see just how much the defense will be missing Miller.
