Cam Newton scored his first Patriots touchdown
New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton is already making a strong impression on some skeptical fans that didn’t know if he could following Tom Brady’s footsteps. Newton scampered into the end zone for the first time as a Patriot, giving Bill Belichick a lead over Brian Flores and the Miami Dolphins.

Cam Newton has started off hot in New England
Newton might be facing a Miami defense that is still a work in progress, but it’s encouraging to see him find the end zone in the first quarter of his first game in New England.
Through the two-minute warning of the first half, Newton has been used sparingly in the passing game, completing 4-of-6 attempts for 46 yards. Still, with New England playing excellent defense, the Patriots are in control against the underdog Dolphins to this juncture.
Newton is hoping to revive his career after being released by the Carolina Panthers earlier this year. The 2015 NFL MVP has been roughed up the past two years, dealing with shoulder and foot injuries, all of which led to surgeries.
For the Patriots, Newton is going to be tested early. In Week 2, New England flies across the country to take on the Seattle Seahawks. In Week 4, it’s a trip to Arrowhead Stadium for a date with the defending world-champion Kansas City Chiefs.
