Per a report, Zach Ertz and Howie Roseman got into a ‘heated’ discussion over his contract talks after a practice this week.

For Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz, he’s been wanting a new contract from general manager Howie Roseman for a while now. This offseason, the star Eagles pass-catcher watched both Travis Kelce and Greg Kittle land monster new deals, but he hasn’t been rewarded yet.

With Ertz trying to stay patient, things apparently reached a boiling point earlier this week. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Ertz and Roseman got into a ‘heated’ argument after a practice, with multiple teammates seeing the two sides go back and forth.

Zach Ertz is still hoping to land a new contract from the Philadelphia Eagles soon

Obviously, any kind of beef between Ertz and Roseman is terrible news for the Eagles. The last thing this team wants or needs is for his contract situation to have a negative impact on his play on the field.

Ertz, who signed a five-year, $42.5 million contract following the 2015 campaign, is under contract through next season and will become an unrestricted free agent in 2022. He’ll be making $6.6 million this year and $8.25 million next campaign. However, the 29-year-old standout watched Kelce sign his four-year, $57 million extension and the 49ers break the bank to pay Kittle $75 million for his new deal.

With Ertz still in the prime of his career, he’s looking to get an improved contract and wants a commitment from Philadelphia that he’s in its long-term plans. So far this offseason, the two parties haven’t had positive talks, which likely led to this week’s argument with Roseman.

The Eagles are set to open their season on Sunday against the Washington Football Team, but this latest Ertz-Roseman update is certainly taking away from the excitement leading up to kickoff.

Next. If the Eagles want Zach Ertz, they should pay him now. dark
