This week, the FanDuel fantasy golf community will be presented with the United States Open!  Let’s take a look at this event from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my FanDuel player selections I wanted to clearly state that the purpose of this article is not to provide a specific lineup. Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a FanDuel GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest!

Here are my FanDuel player selections for the United States Open!

Dustin Johnson $12,100

Sometimes in DFS golf you have no choice when it comes to the chalk, you just have to eat it. That is certainly the case this week. Dustin Johnson is quite simply the best golfer on the planet.

Since the beginning of July, Johnson has played eight tournaments on the PGA Tour. In those eight events played, Johnson has three wins (2020 Travelers Championship, 2020 Northern Trust, 2020 Tour Championship) and two second place results (2020 PGA Championship, 2020 BMW Championship). Fade Dustin at your own risk!

Xander Schauffele $11,400

As I evaluated the relevant data for this week, one specific statistic popped off the page for me. Seven of the last 10 winners of the United States Open were first time major winners. Having stated, I like the fact that Xander is still searching for his first major title. Additionally, I think that Schauffele certainly has the resume and talent level to get the job done at Winged Foot this week.

Xander has played 18 tournaments on the PGA Tour in the last 11 months. In those 18 events just mentioned, Xander has an impressive 16 top 25 finishes, including a second place result at the Tour Championship two weeks ago.

Schauffele has competed in the last three United States Opens. In those three events played, Xander has three top six finishes, including a third place result at the 2019 United States Open.

Patrick Reed $10,000

For me, the 2018 Masters Champion is always worthy of consideration in any major championship. Love him or hate him, the guy seems to come to play when it counts. In addition to his one major championship at Augusta National, Reed also has won two world golf championship events on the PGA Tour (2014 WGC-Cadillac Championship, 2020 WGC-Mexico Championship).

Reed has three top 13 finishes in his last five events on the PGA Tour, including an eighth place result at the Tour Championship two weeks ago.

Jason Kokrak $8,400

Kokrak arrives at this week’s event on the heels of three consecutive top 15 finishes, including a sixth place result at the BMW Championship last month.

In relation to this week’s current listed 2020 U.S. Open field, in the last 12 rounds played on the PGA Tour, Kokrak ranks third in strokes gained tee to green, ninth in strokes gained approach, and 11th in strokes gained off the tee.

Chez Reavie $8,100

The 38 year old has four top 22 finishes in his last seven events on the PGA Tour, including a third place result at last week’s Safeway Open. It should also be noted that Reavie finished third at the 2019 United States Open.

Ryan Fox $7,700

The 33 year old New Zealander is a current member of the European Tour. Having stated that, it has to be said that Fox has been playing some outstanding golf. Let me provide some specific data to support my previous statement. Since the beginning of July, Fox has played seven tournaments on the European Tour. In those seven tournaments played, Fox has five top 28 finishes, including a 15th place result at the Hero Open in August.

I also like the fact that I know that Fox can handle the bright lights of a major tournament. Fox finished 19th at the 2019 United States Open.

I think Ryan Fox presents outstanding fantasy value at the low FanDuel price of $7,700.
