Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was clearly not happy with Trent Grisham’s bat flip on Monday night.

There were some extra fireworks during Monday night’s showdown between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres, with slugger Trent Grisham getting things going. The powerful lefty took Clayton Kershaw deep to tie things up, a game the Padres ended up winning, but fired off a bat flip and took his time to start running the bases.

This annoyed Kershaw and the rest of his Dodgers teammates in the dugout, who really let Grisham have it as he rounded third base. After the game, skipper Dave Roberts also commented on Grisham’s act, and he wasn’t happy about it at all.

There’s clearly some beef right now between the Dodgers and Padres in the middle of their NL West battle

After watching the highlight multiple times, it’s pretty easy to see why Roberts and the Dodgers didn’t like how Grisham handled himself. After belting his homer, he decided to showboat. Kershaw is one of the best hurlers in the game too, which is why Roberts believes he deserves much more respect than what Grisham showed him.

To make matters worse for LA on Monday, the Padres scored five runs in the seventh inning to take home a 7-2 win. Now, the Dodgers only hold a 1.5-game lead over San Diego in the NL West standings, with the division race really heating up. Grisham’s little home run trot and flip is only going to make things even more intriguing the rest of the way.

The Dodgers and Padres will face off once again on Tuesday night. We’ll have to wait and see if LA decides to send a message to Grisham when he’s at the plate with some high heat.
