2021 NFL Mock Draft: Bengals add more protection for Joe Burrow
By Brad Weiss
The Miami Dolphins hit the road to take on Cam Newton and the new-look New England Patriots on Sunday, but unlike Week 17 of last year, they were not able to take care of business. New England got two rushing touchdowns against the Dolphins defense, and while the D played well at times, they should use their first round pick on that side of the ball.
One player who is not going to make it out of the first five picks is Micah Parsons, a dominating linebacker from Penn State. He instantly makes the Dolphins better at linebacker, and as they continues to stockpile young talent, he is the type of player who could be the captain of the defense in Year 1.
The New York Jets got off to a horrific start to the 2020 NFL season, going on the road and getting absolutely throttled by the Buffalo Bills. Sam Darnold looked terrible early, as the Bills got out to a 21-0 lead, and the Jets just did not have enough firepower to come back against a tough Bills defense.
With pick No. 5 in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Jets should look to bring in some talent at the wide receiver positin, and Ja’Marr Chase from LSU is the best of the bunch in this draft class. He would immediately become the Jets WR1, and based on what we saw Sunday, Darnold needs all the help he can get.
One of the more surprising scores of the Week 1 slate was the Washington Football Team’s win against the Philadelphia Eagles. Washington terrorized Carson Wentz all game long, erasing a 17-0 deficit, and scoring 27 unanswered to win their first game under new head coach Ron Rivera.
Washington got enough from Dwayne Haskins Jr. Sunday, and if he continues to progress, they should be able to pass on a quarterback in the first round this April. If that is the case, Jaylen Waddle from Alabama should be the pick here, as he gives them another terrific weapon on the outside.
