Robby Anderson provided fans with a hilarious video clip in Week 1.

Robby Anderson joined the Carolina Panthers this offseason and had a huge debut in Week 1. The former New York Jets receiver had six catches for 115 yards and a touchdown in what was a tough 34-30 loss against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The loss was not ideal, but fans did see the Panthers’ new number one receiver show off his abilities. Perhaps the most entertaining part of his debut came on the bench when he was trying to figure out what the team’s mascot was doing in the stands. Luckily, it was caught on tape.

Robby Anderson discovers Sir Purr

Anderson thinking the Panthers mascot was a bear is pure gold. Has the sentence, “That’s Sir Purr, bro” ever been said before?

The new receiver was clearly never told the rich history of the franchise’s mascot when he arrived in town. Seeing him figure it out in real-time shows that players can have a bit of fun on the sidelines during a game.

It has to be a weird sight for the players to be in a near-empty stadium and see a dancing mascot up in the stands. The usually deafening crowd noise has been swapped out for pumped in noise and video of Sir Purr dancing on the scoreboard.

Anderson had his first 100-yard day with the Panthers and learned the name of Sir Purr all in his first game with the team. Next up is getting his first win. That will be another tough task in Week 2 as the Panthers head south to take on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Listening in on what players say during games can give fans insight into the intricacies of a football game. It can also share a more lighthearted part of the game and Anderson can’t be the only player to question mascots in the middle of an otherwise intense game.
