Preseason Predictions I Still Believe

Nyheim Hines will be the highest scoring RB on the Colts

What can I say? I’m a prophet. In all seriousness, Hines’ 27+ fantasy points in week 1 were not a surprise to me, since I figured he’d be filling the role of Austin Ekeler in Philip Rivers‘ new offense. Ekeler was wildly successful in Los Angeles, so it comes as no surprise that Hines was successful in his start in Indy. I believe this continues for the remainder of the season.

Dallas Goedert will outscore Zach Ertz in at least half of the Eagles’ games

This was a prediction stemming from the end of last season as Goedert emerged as a legitimate option in the Eagles’ passing attack. Considering Goedert led the league in standard scoring tight end fantasy points this week, I’d say this prediction has merit for the remainder of the season.

In games in which Kareem Hunt plays, Nick Chubb will not be a top 20 RB this season

Kareem Hunt is a talented back. Nick Chubb declined after Hunt returned last season. This prediction almost wrote itself. And it proved true in week 1, as Chubb struggled while Hunt outpaced him in everything from carries to receptions.

Malcolm Brown will be the Rams RB you want

This prediction was actually made before Brown was named the starter. When Todd Gurley was spelled of carries last season, it was primarily Brown who was given the carries. As his return was one of few constants, I knew that his role would pick up where it left off.

Mike Evans will not be a top 20 WR

Mike Evans thrives on the deep ball. Tom Brady does not. While Chris Godwin is set up to succeed in Brady’s offense, Mike Evans is not. His stat line of one catch for 2 yards is further evidence of this.
