Five-star power forward Harrison Ingram announced his commitment to Stanford.

Stanford basketball isn’t messing around in recruiting prospects from the class of 2021. On Friday, the Cardinal added a second elite prospect to their haul.

Five-star power forward Harrison Ingram informed the world of his commitment decision via a video on Twitter.

After thanking coaches, family and friends, Harrison had a simple message: “Fear the Tree.”

Harrison Ingram beefs up Stanford’s class of 2021 considerably.

Ingram, who posted a finalists list including Stanford, North Carolina, Purdue, Michigan, Howard and Harvard at the start of August, is one of the top prospects in the class of 2021 at 6-foot-7, 210 pounds.

He ranks No. 11 in the 247Sports composite and fourth at power forward.

Brian Snow of 247Sports described the prospect out of St. Mark’s in Dallas in an unusual way, saying “many would describe [his style] as an ‘old man’ type of game.”

As David Mamet said, “old age and treachery will always beat youth and exuberance.”

Ingram isn’t an old man, but he brings a degree of “savvy, skill and intelligence,” according to Snow, that you’d expect from someone beyond his years.

“His elite IQ and skill make him one of the best prospects in the class, and someone who will exceed his physical tools as a player and producer,” Snow concluded.

Ingram will join Isael Silva as part of Stanford’s now-No. 16 ranked recruiting class. Silva is from Napa, California and ranks No. 34 in the class. He is No. 3 among point guards.

The Cardinal displaced UCLA to take the No. 2 spot in conference rankings for the class of 2021. However they still trail USC in first place. The Trojan already have four players committed but none of them rank as highly as either Ingram or Silva.

Stanford could use the injection of talent. They finished seventh in the Pac-12 standings in 2019 with a record of 20-12.
