The Packers Lambeau Field debut will be a little bit different this season

While fans won’t be allowed inside of Lambeau Field for the first few games of this season, that won’t stop of the festivities just outside of the stadium. Packers fans are still likely to tailgate before the team takes on the Detroit Lions this Sunday with social distancing protocol in effect, of course. Bars and restaurants will also be open with limited capacity, making for a slightly concerning, albeit jovial Sunday afternoon in Green Bay.

“We’re going to make it feel like game day,” Ronda Konschake, general manager of Stadium View Bar & Grille, told the Green Bay Press Gazette. “We’ve been getting these calls, people from out of state wanting to know what we’re doing because they said they’re coming. We’ve also gotten calls from the season ticket holders that are normally inside the stadium and are actually excited to also be outside but still experience game day and still be in the district.”

Local restaurant owners are walking a fine line and trying to keep their patrons safe

Football Sundays just outside of Lambeau Field can be incredibly popular, and the idea of limiting  such a large gathering during a pandemic is unrealistic. Restaurants and bars must adhere to social distancing and COVID-19 guidelines.

“All the calls we’ve been getting, we are definitely gearing up and putting on our normal huge tailgate party,” Konschake said.

Rather than fighting against the inevitable, restaurant owners will thrive in this environment, giving Packers fans plenty of options for alternate game day activities.
