It took Ben Roethlisberger some time to shake off the rust on Monday night but the Steelers prevailed. Now Mike Tomlin’s team hosted Denver and despite a few turnovers held on for the win. Pittsburgh’s defense finished with seven sacks of Drew Lock and Jeff Driskel and two takeaways. Roethlisberger threw for 311 yards and two scores (1 interception), including an 84-yarder to rookie Chase Claypool, and James Conner ran for 106 yards and one TD.

The Rams made their debut in their new digs last week and came away with a win over the Cowboys. Now Sean McVay’s team headed east to take on the Eagles. Less than three minutes into the second quarter, Los Angeles owned a surprising 21-3 lead and after Philadelphia narrowed the deficit to 24-19, Los Angeles pulled away late with 13 unanswered points. McVay’s team ran for 191 yards and the Rams are 2-0 for the third straight season.

The defending NFC champions rebounded after a surprising home loss to the Cardinals with a complete road win over the Jets. But the game was somewhat costly as defensive linemen Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo all left the game with injuries. Both Raheem Mostert (80-yard touchdown) and Jerick McKinnon (55 yards) each ripped off huge runs as Kyle Shanahan’s club amassed 182 yards on the ground.
