Star Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton will be lost for the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL.

The worst fears have come true for the Denver Broncos and head coach Vic Fangio. After going down with a knee injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2, Denver was hoping things wouldn’t be serious for standout wide receiver Courtland Sutton.

Unfortunately for the Broncos, it’s been confirmed that the wideout has suffered a torn ACL. Just like that, Denver’s No. 1 receiving option is officially lost for the rest of the 2020 campaign.

Courtland Sutton’s ACL tear is a massive blow for the Denver offense

You’ve got to feel for Sutton, who was hoping to have a monster season after earning Pro Bowl honors in 2019. Last year, the 6-foot-4, 215-pounder caught 72 balls for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns. He’s in his third campaign with the Broncos, catching 117 balls for 1,882 yards and 10 scores since arriving to the team in 2018.

Sunday was just filled with bad news for the Broncos. Not only did they lose Sutton to injury, but they also suffered a close defeat to the Steelers, with Drew Lock also suffering a concerning shoulder injury. With Lock sidelined, backup Jeff Driskel took over the offense, throwing for 256 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

Lock is expected to miss 2-6 weeks with a sprained AC joint, meaning fans will be watching the team without two of its biggest offensive stars for a while. That fact alone is likely sending the Broncos into a bit of a panic mode.

The team entered the year with some promise of potentially getting back to the postseason, but they’re 0-2 to start the campaign and have seen injuries ravage them. It’s been nothing but tough news of late for Fangio and the rest of the Broncos locker room.
