Week 2 was brutal. We saw the most injuries to star players than we have in some time. It’s time to start to scrambling the waiver wire.

Week 1 was a relatively quiet waiver wire. Very few players took surprising leaps to fantasy stardom. But, with all the injuries in Week 2, let’s dive into some potential replacements.

First up the running back position:

Notable injuries:

Saquon Barkley: If you have Saquon, my condolences with you. Your first round pick is officially out for the year with a torn ACL and now you have to pick up your team from the rubble and push on through the season. There is light at the end of the tunnel. It is a long season, and as a fantasy fanatic, I urge you to stay positive and keep grinding.

Christian McCaffrey: As the consensus first overall pick, you hated seeing him going down in the second half with an ankle injury. It is reported he will be out ‘4-6 weeks’. Another brutal loss.

Raheem Mostert: Mostert went down in the second quarter with what is called a ‘mild MCL sprain’. I am no doctor, but from research, he should be out 2-6 weeks. That is a wide window but I don’t see the 49ers rushing him back with their deep RB depth.

Waiver Wire Replacements (ranked in order):

Joshua Kelley: One of the few RB’s that make this list that wasn’t due to an injury. Kelley saw 25 touches for 113 yards. Not bad for a presumed ‘RB2’ on his team. He has the most season long value of any of these players. His role continues to increase. Ekeler will never see 100% of the workload. This is much more of a 60/40 split than what we thought coming into the season.

Mike Davis: He stepped right in and caught 8 passes for 74 yards out of the backfield. I expect the biggest uptick in his usage and in PPR leagues, he will be serviceable while CMC is out. He is the guy I prefer the most out of any waiver wire running back.

Giants RB Group: As of Monday afternoon, the Giants have not signed a new RB. I expect Devonta Freeman could get that call, but I am staying far away from this backfield. Regardless of them signing Devonta or not, I still prefer Dion Lewis for season long. This team will be playing from behind majority of games, and will need to score.

Next up, some Wide Receiver injuries including Davante Adams, Courtland Sutton, and more.
