Notre Dame will not play Wake Forest this Saturday as the game is postponed due to COVID-19 protocols.

Notre Dame’s Sept. 26 game with Wake Forest has been postponed.

After 94 COVD-19 tests were administered to Notre Dame football players on Monday, seven came back positive. Those players ar ein isolation. This comes on the heels of last week’s results that had an additional six players in isolation. In total, 13 players are in isolation and 10 more in quarantine.

No makeup date has been announced but Oct. 3 is a mutual bye week for both Notre Dame and Wake Forest

“With student-athlete health and safety our primary focus, we will continue to follow our prevention protocols and ongoing testing procedures,” said Dick Corbett Head Football Coach Brian Kelly. “We managed an increase in positivity rates in August, and the players handled it wonderfully.

“We knew COVID would present challenges throughout the season, and we’ll always put student-athlete health and safety at the forefront of our decision making. We look forward to resuming team activities and getting back on the playing field.”

No date has been set for the rescheduled game but it’s possible it could be a one-week delay with both teams having a bye week for Oct. 3.
