Urban Meyer is still beating Michigan even in retirement (Video)
Urban Meyer still has the ability to kick Michigan when they’re down in retirement. The former Ohio State coach loved beating the school up north
Urban Meyer spent seven years as the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes and during that time, he managed to go a perfect 7-0 against the rival Michigan Wolverines. Michigan has still yet to snap their losing stream even after Meyer retired, but what’s more impressive is Meyer’s ability to still twist the knife in Michigan fans’ hearts.
Meyer appeared on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday and when asked if he felt bad about running up the score on Michigan during his days as the head coach, he said matter-of-factly, “no.”
This is simply a savage response from the former Ohio State head coach and is certainly going to stir the pot between the two fan bases, as this is one of the biggest rivalries in all of college football.
Meyer’s Buckeyes teams won by an average of 12 points vs. the school up north and he closed his coaching career in this storied rivalry with a 62-39 blowout in 2018.
Urban Meyer continues to be undefeated against Michigan with this comment.
Meyer even knew the comment was going to stir up controversy in headlines, but he told the truth. Ohio State was always far and away the better team in those games and rather than just take the 20-plus point victory and put the backups in for the duration of the game, the Buckeyes would have to rub it in Michigan’s faces that they were running away with it.
The biggest deficit between the two was a 42-13 victory from the Buckeyes in 2015 when Ohio State was No. 8 and the Wolverines were ranked No. 10. You wouldn’t have thought that was a game between 2 top 10 teams when watching it because Ohio State curb-stomped their Big Ten foes in that one.
The two teams don’t play until Dec. 12 this year due to the Big Ten’s postponement of the season, but Michigan will have that game circled as per usual.
