2021 NFL Mock Draft: Jets draft Trevor Lawrence and replace Sam Darnold
By Brad Weiss
The Minnesota Vikings have been atrocious to start the 2020 NFL season, and it is starting to look like a change at quarterback may be needed. Kirk Cousins was supposed to make this team a perennial playoff team, but through the first two weeks, they actually look like the worst team in the NFC North.
They have enough talent, so they should bounce back, but that does not mean they should pass up on Trey Lance in the first round. This kid could end up going in the first five picks, but based on team needs in this draft order, the Vikings make the most sense in the first half of the first round next April.
The Chicago Bears have moved out to a 2-0 record to start the season, and are actually getting good football from quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Remember, this is a fan base that saw the team move up to take Trubisky over Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, so they are looking for any sliver of hope they can get from their quarterback.
If Trubisky can hang onto the starting job, then the team needs to give him more weapons, and Devonta Smith from Alabama is a first round talent. They will have to pay Allen Robinson, which is going to take a lot of cash, so getting an elite option with a first round pick is a good way to continue to build up this position group.
The Cleveland Browns picked up a much-needed AFC North victory in Week 2, as they took care of the Cincinnati Bengals at home in a matchup between Baker Mayfield and Joe Burrow. Both quarterbacks played worthy of their No. 1 overall pick status, though in the end, the Browns were just a better team.
Cleveland has a good amount of talent on both sides of the ball, and Mayfield had one of his best games in a while on Thursday. Still, they need help along the defensive line in the interior, and Marvin Wilson would be an absolute menace teaming with the likes of Myles Garrett and Olivier Vernon on the outside.
