Who are the frontrunners for the MVP award after Week 2?

This is the third installment of FanSided‘s 17-part series of MVP award analysis.

Each week, the top five players in contention to take home the NFL’s most esteemed individual award will be examined.

The series is a running tabulation of statistics, player performance, and of course, impact on team success. In that respect, this analysis should be considered a linear or non-episodic process. For example, a new AFC quarterback joins the rankings this week chiefly because he’s been too good in the first two weeks to ignore, albeit versus opponents that are deserving of punishment.

Going forward to remain on the MVP Stock Watch, players must continue their high-octane success on a weekly basis. If a player plays woefully in a given week, he will probably be jettisoned for awhile until his performance merits re-seeding.

One player exit the rankings from last week — Josh Jacobs. He had an impressive week, but his successor in these rankings is more worthy of an appearance on the Stock Watch.

After Week 2, here are the top five MVP award contenders for 2020.

**Please note: This series will consider sportsbooks odds but will largely weigh individual statistics and impact on the team by the particular player.
