Jacksonville wide receiver Keelan Cole Sr. and Miami tight end Mike Gesicki are potential “Flex” starters in the Thursday Night Football game for week 3 of the NFL 2020 schedule.

Fantasy football rules provide unique advantages in utilizing players in unique ways.  On draft day, you select the two best running backs and two best pass receivers to provide the ultimate offense for your fantasy football team.  You also have an opportunity to draft a fifth starter that produces (hopefully) huge chunks of points.  This fifth starter plays what is called the “Flex” position.

Candidates for the “Flex” position are typically the equivalent of a No. 3 wide receiver or No. 3 running back on your team.  In addition to Cole and Gesicki, some other examples might be Pittsburgh running James Conner or Detroit rookie running back D’Andre Swift.

Looking at the two rosters, the Jaguars (1-1) have a decided advantage over the Dolphins (0-2).

Surefire Starters

  • From a fantasy football point of view (POV), there are no surefire starters in this game.

Riding the Bench

  • As noted above, the majority of Dolphins and Jaguars would be riding the bench in the TNF game.

Underrated

  • Gardner Minshew II, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, could be a valuable No. 2 quarterback on someone’s fantasy team.  He has thrown for 512 yards.  Minshew has 6 touchdown passes and 2 interceptions.

Overrated

  • The Miami Dolphins running attack is overrated.  Myles Gaskin leads Miami in rushing with 86 yards and no touchdowns.

 TNF Sleeper(s)

  • Keelan Cole Sr., Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver, is Minshew’s favorite target.  He has 11 catches for 105 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Cole might provide a surprise as someone’s “Flex” position starter.
  • Mike Gesicki, Miami Dolphins tight end, has the most fantasy football points on the Dolphins with 33.  He has caught 11 passes for 160 yards and 1 touchdown.  Gisecki has been targeted 16 times by Miami quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and he could be a “Flex” starter candidate for week 3.
