The Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins are all set to begin their Wild Card Round series on Wednesday, with Kyle Hendricks getting the ball to start Game 1.

Come Wednesday, both the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins will be hoping to get their postseasons on the right foot, as they’re all set to meet in Game 1 of their Wild Card Round series. Manager David Ross had a tough decision to make regarding his rotation, but the call has been made.

On Tuesday, Ross announced that veteran hurler Kyle Hendricks will be taking the bump for Game 1, while star hurler Yu Darvish will get the nod for Game 2 on Thursday.

The Chicago Cubs are hoping to get back to the World Series for the first time since 2016

Hendricks has been stellar for the Cubs this season, posting a 6-5 mark, with a 2.88 ERA. Ross is putting his trust in the hard-throwing righty to silence the Miami bats, a task which is most certainly easier said than done.

Then on Thursday, Ross will send out Darvish to try and give Chicago a Game 2 victory. Remember, if the Cubs win Game 1, Darvish could power the Cubs to a two-game sweep of the Marlins in their best-of-three series. Darvish will enter that start with the confidence of having himself an incredible 2020.

In the shortened season, Darvish went 8-3 and finished the year with a 2.01 ERA. His eight wins tied for most in the majors, while his ERA was good enough to come in fourth. He also posted 93 strikeouts.

Keeping the Marlins lineup silent won’t be an easy task, but both Hendricks and Darvish look to be ready for the challenge. Only time will tell if the two standouts can help lead Chicago to a series victory over their NL East opponents.
