Justin Jefferson – Minnesota Vikings

Following a relatively slow start to his NFL career, the Vikings’ first-round receiver was a bright spot on another grim day for Minnesota.

The former LSU star caught seven of his nine targets for 175 yards, with most of his yardage coming on a 71-yard touchdown in the third quarter of the Vikings’ 31-30 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Compiling 30.5 points, Jefferson was the second-highest scorer among wide receivers in PPR leagues.

Minnesota may be in an 0-3 hole but the budding chemistry between Kirk Cousins and Jefferson is a reason for encouragement.

One of the issues the Vikings had in the opening two weeks of the campaign was the lack of a legitimate receiving threat outside of Adam Thielen. That was always likely to be a by-product of the decision to trade away Stefon Diggs, but Jefferson now at least looks capable of filling the void.

He will need to do it more consistently to be worthy of regular starter consideration in fantasy leagues, but Sunday provided substantial evidence he has the trust of Cousins. The Vikings appear destined to fall short of offseason expectations, however, they do have a productive offense. If Jefferson remains a featured part of that, he can be a receiver whom fantasy managers can turn to for potentially pivotal contributions.
