Days after entering the transfer portal, former 5-star Clemson running back Demarkcus Bowman is transferring to Florida.

On Thursday, Demarkcus Bowman announced he was entering the transfer portal, after two games into his Clemson football career. On Saturday, Bowman announced he was transferring to play for Florida football, where he’ll be reunited with several former Lakeland, Florida products on the Gators roster.

247Sports reported the news of the Bowman transfer, which should come as no surprise. As soon as Bowman entered the portal, it was a virtual lock that he’d be heading home to play for the Gators who recruited him hard up until National Signing Day.

Despite Dan Mullen and his coaching staff’s efforts to get Bowman to flip, he signed with Dabo Swinney and Clemson. However, that marriage just didn’t work out for whatever reason and Bowman will now be a Gator.

Florida finally gets Demarkcus Bowman who transfers from Clemson

Because he’s transferring so early in the 2020 season, perhaps there could be a chance he’ll be eligible for the 2021 season as opposed to having to sit that out because of transfer rules. But that would seem punitive to make him miss the 2020 season and then the 2021 season.

Considering this season is not counting against eligibility of any athletes and transfer waivers are being handed out like candy on Halloween, hopefully, Bowman will be eligible to contribute to Florida football next season.

Bowman, a five-star who was the No. 25 overall recruit and No. 3 running back in the 247Sports Composite will be reunited with high school teammates, Keon Zipperer, Lloyd Summerall and Fenley Graham as well as JUCO signee Deyavie Hammond.

Depending on NFL declarations or transfers, Bowman joins a running back room that includes redshirt junior Malik Davis, junior Dameon Pierce Nay’Quan Wright, Iverson Clement and Lorenzo Lingard.
