Kentucky’s Asim Rose committed a classic blunder, celebrating too early and costing his team a touchdown.

Dear college football players,

Stop. Celebrating. Before. Crossing. The. Goal. Line.

Basically, don’t be like Kentucky’s Asim Rose, the running back who broke free towards the goal line and started celebrating about 20-yards too early.

Of course, an Ole Miss defender caught Rose before he could score. Of course, Rose fumbled two plays later and Ole Miss recovered. And, of course, the Rebels went on to win the game by one point in overtime.

If Asim Rose had scored, then celebrated, Kentucky might have won

There are a thousand “what ifs” in every football game. But seriously, Kentucky could have used that first-quarter touchdown.

Sure, the game might have gone differently if the Wildcats had scored that touchdown. Points are points though. Kentucky could have realistically led 21-7 by the end of the first quarter. Instead, they left the door open for Ole Miss to stay in the game.

It’s a simple and harsh lesson: Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. Don’t celebrate until the points are on the board.
