2020 NFL power rankings, Week 5: Browns explode, Jets implode
The defending NFC champions were back home following a road sweep of the Jets and Giants. They faced yet another team looking for its first win of the year in the 0-2-1 Eagles. Kyle Shanahan’s club trailed 8-7 at halftime but did forge ahead midway through the third quarter. But Nick Mullens would turn over the ball three times and one of his two interceptions as returned for a score. Quarterback C.J. Beathard led a late rally that came up short.
The Bears were looking for the first 4-0 start since 2006 as they hosted the rejuvenated Indianapolis Colts. Nick Foles would be Matt Nagy’s starting quarterback and he and the Chicago offense would have a rough afternoon against an Indianapolis Colts’ defense that has been hot in recent weeks. The Bears managed only 28 yards on the ground and 269 total yards and didn’t score a TD until 1:35 remaining as Nagy’s club lost for the first time in 2020.
Kevin Stefanski’s team has put a combined 69 points on the board the previous two weeks in wins over the Bengals and Redskins. Now the Browns headed to Dallas to take on the unpredictable Cowboys. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. had quite the day, catching five passes for 81 yards and two scores and running twice for 73 yards – including a 50-yard TD. Cleveland ran for 307 yards, totaled 508 yards of offense and did not turn over the ball.
