The Braves came out victorious over the Marlins in a competitive Game 1.

The Miami Marlins were hanging tough against the Atlanta Braves in Game 1. Then came a six-run seventh inning that pushed the score to 9-4 in favor of Atlanta.

One of the turning points in the game came when Sandy Alcantara beaned Ronald Acuna Jr. This came after the Braves slugger took a bit of time to admire his leadoff home run in the first inning. All the drilling did was put a runner on base and motivate the Braves to mount a comeback. The Marlins are looking for a better plan of attack in Game 2.

What to watch for in Braves-Marlins Game 2

The Braves are putting a rookie on the mound in Ian Anderson. The young pitcher made his MLB debut at the end of August and was trusted in the Wild Card round against the Cincinnati Reds. He logged six scoreless innings in that start and thus earned another.

Pablo Lopez is taking the mound for a Marlins team looking for betting pitching in Game 2. His last start came against this Braves team in the final week of September and Lopez picked up the win with five scoreless innings.

Atlanta only got four innings out of Max Fried in Game 1 and managed to win thanks to one big inning from the offense. One small piece of advice is to not give the Atlanta offense any added motivation. There is not a glaring weak spot in the lineup and the Marlins can’t give them any free bases.
