NBA Twitter got a kick out of the fly on Mike Pence’s head during the vice presidential debate.

On an off night for the NBA, the only major sport being played was MLB playoff baseball.

Between that and the immense anxiety over the upcoming 2020 presidential election, a significant number of viewers likely found themselves watching the vice presidential debate between Mike Pence and Kamala Harris over Rays-Yankees or Dodgers-Padres on Wednesday night.

But when a fly landed on Mike Pence’s head for two whole minutes and wouldn’t leave, NBA Twitter had a field day just like everyone else did with the jokes for such a viral moment.

Here are some of the best jokes from NBA Twitter

First, former NBA shooting guard turned enjoyable Twitter persona Rex Chapman has the video for anyone who someone hasn’t seen this viral moment yet:

The players reacting to such an incredibly funny, random moment included sharpshooter J.J. Redick, Golden State Warriors rookie Eric Paschall, Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell and Warriors star Draymond Green.

The “shoutout to the fly” is vintage Draymond:

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin compared the moment to the series premiere of Westworld, when protagonist Dolores — a robot in the early process of becoming sentient — swats at a fly after letting it land in her open eyeball during the show’s opening minutes:

As always with NBA Twitter, the Crying Jordan meme made a welcome appearance:

Bubba Wallace may be a NASCAR driver, but now that he’ll be the lead driver for Michael Jordan’s new NASCAR team, he’s an honorary part of NBA Twitter:

The jokes from basketball writers and fans were unrelenting from there:

The VP debate is mercifully over, but we — and NBA Twitter, as always — will never forget the moment a fly decided to nestle itself in Mike Pence’s hair for two minutes during a nationally televised event.
