2. Le’Veon Bell, RB, New York Jets

The Jets are 0-4, and now it looks like Joe Flacco will get a start or two as Sam Darnold deals with a shoulder injury. Exactly who a good team might want to trade for, perhaps this side of wide receiver Jamison Crowder, is really unclear. Maybe a name-brand running back?

Bell suffered a hamstring injury in Week 1, but he has been targeting a Week 5 return. Head coach Adam Gase clearly does not want Bell, as long as he has his job the idea of moving Bell won’t be too far away from the conversation.

If it’s not next Sunday against the Cardinals, Bell returning to action some point soon is good news for the Jets if they want to trade him. They would only take a $2 million dead money hit by trading him (with a $2 million dead money hit), while also getting most of $13.5 and $15 million cap hits for the next two years off their books.

Bell probably still has something left in the tank, but his Jets’ experience has proven he needs better structure around him to succeed. Almost anywhere else would be better structure with better talent around him, it’s just a matter or who needs a running back between now and the deadline and if anyone will buy low on Bell. The Jets might take anything they can get for him.
