The Texans can’t sleep on the Jacksonville Jaguars

The start of the 2020 season has certainly been a nightmare for the Houston Texans, who have started 0-4 and are in deep trouble. To add insult to injury, the Texans can’t even benefit from a bad year as their first and second-round draft picks are going to the Miami Dolphins as a part of the Laremy Tunsil trade.

The pressure to turn things around is intense on head coach Bill O’Brien, whose team is far more talented than its 0-4 record would indicate. The schedule makers did deal Houston a rough hand with early matchups against Kansas City and Baltimore, but the Texans haven’t looked great against Pittsburgh and Minnesota either.

Despite all of that, the Texans have been installed as 6.5 point favorites at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are off to a 1-3 start. Aside from a Week 3 debacle against the Dolphins on a short week Jacksonville has been in every game, including a narrow loss at Tennessee in Week 2.

Houston is the owner of the NFL’s worst run defense, surrendering over 180 yards per game on the ground, so the Jaguars could establish James Robinson and the rushing attack to allow Gardner Minshew to work off of play-action. Jacksonville always plays hard and has looked better than Houston for most of the campaign so it wouldn’t be a stunner to see Minshew driving for a chance to win at the end.
