Nick Foles just made his worst throw of the season (Video)
By Mark Powell
Interceptions be damned, there is no worse throw than this
The Bears and Bucs are matched up on Thursday Night Football in what should be a familiar setting to Foles, as he’s an underdog against a Tom Brady-led team. Yet, that familiarity can only go so far. Down early in the first quarter, Foles had a chance to extend the Bears drive with an easy dump-off. Rather than completing the pass on third-and-2, Foles overthrew his target by a country mile, making some Bears fans question audibly and on social media why in the world they bench Mitchell Trubisky for this dude. Yes, Trubisky is getting some love again. That’s how you know it’s bad.
We’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: Allen Robinson deserves better! Robinson is one of the best receivers in the NFC, but the quarterback play he’s been forced to deal with on a daily basis must be frustrating.
Update: There’s another horrible throw to choose from!
Foles was meant to be a veteran presence to stabilize the Bears offense, something Trubisky failed to achieve in three weeks as the starter in 2020. Instead, Foles can only seem to win football games when he’s asked to come in at halftime. When Foles starts, the Bears look out of their element, with the 31-year-old missing routine plays just like the one above.
There’s no good explanation.
