FanDuel NFL Single Game Contest: Sunday Night Football Player Picks
By Hans Geevers
Sunday night football presents the DFS/FanDuel community with a clash of NFC teams! Let’s take a look at Sunday night’s game from a fantasy football perspective!
Before I discuss my FanDuel player picks for Sunday night’s game, let’s take a look at the key DFS injuries for both teams and briefly review the rules for the FanDuel single game contest.
Notable DFS Injuries
Vikings: WR K.J. Osborn OUT; CB Kris Boyd, CB Holton Hill QUESTIONABLE
Seahawks: S Jamal Adams OUT; S Lano Hill, LB Jordyn Brooks, RB Carlos Hyde, OG Mike Iupati, CB Quinton Dunbar QUESTIONABLE
Let’s shift our focus to the rules for the FanDuel single game contest. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The FanDuel MVP accumulates 1.5 times the standard FanDuel points value.
The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a FanDuel single game contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the FanDuel single game contest, I recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.
Here are my FanDuel Player Selections for Sunday Night Football!
MVP
Russell Wilson, QB $16,500
The 31 year old quarterback is quite simply playing outstanding this season. Through four games played, Wilson has accumulated 1,285 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns. That is an average of 321.25 passing yards and four touchdowns a game! That is the kind of consistent fantasy points I want from a quarterback I play in my FanDuel lineup on any given week.
Now that we have established how well Wilson has been playing this season, let’s turn our attention to the defense that Russell Wilson will be facing this week. Well, the Minnesota Vikings defense has not exactly been the 1985 Bears to this point in the NFL season. Let me be more specific. The Vikings defense currently ranks 29th in the NFL in passing yards allowed (1,167 yards).
In my opinion, Wilson will continue his outstanding play on Sunday night. I see Wilson shredding this weak Vikings defense. Having stated that, I think Wilson is without a doubt the best player to play at the MVP position.
Flex Plays
Dalvin Cook, RB $15,000
Through four games played, Dalvin Cook has 424 rushing yards on 75 carries. He also has six rushing touchdowns. Cook’s 424 yards rushing currently leads the NFL. Yes, I know that the Seahawks have done a decent job stopping the run so far this season. Having stated that, I think the Seahawks defense will be getting a large dose of Cook running the football on Sunday night. The Vikings know they have to control time of possession to keep that outstanding Seattle offense off the field if they hope to win Sunday night’s game.
DK Metcalf, WR $11,000
Metcalf currently leads the NFL with 403 receiving yards. He also has 16 receptions and three receiving touchdowns. I noted earlier in this article that the Vikings defense has proven to be vulnerable to the pass this season. Additionally, the Vikings have multiple defensive backs listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Frankly, I see Metcalf having another outstanding game. Fade him at your own risk.
Justin Jefferson, WR $10,000
After watching multiple Minnesota Vikings games this season, it is rather clear to me that the Vikings coaching staff has made a clear decision to get Jefferson more involved in the team’s offense. Over the last two games, Jefferson has 11 receptions and 278 receiving yards. The young wide receiver’s big play ability can get your FanDuel lineup a large number of DFS points on one play!
It should be noted that, through four games this season, the Seattle Seahawks defense has allowed nine plays of over 25 yards.
Greg Olsen, TE $7,500
The veteran tight end has been targeted by Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson 13 times in the last two games. Olsen has turned those 13 targets into 10 receptions that have resulted in 96 receiving yards. In my opinion, Greg Olsen presents outstanding fantasy football value at a FanDuel price of only $7,500.
