The Oklahoma Sooners are 1-2 and are desperate for a win as they take on the Texas Longhorns, who are also looking to get back into the win column.
There is a dumpster fire in the conference known as the Big 12. As their middle of the road teams and bottom of the barrel teams are having a hard time and even losing to lesser opponents, the conferences top two teams are both reeling following their performances last Saturday. The Oklahoma Sooners dropped their second game in a row and have fallen below .500. Meanwhile, the Texas Longhorns finally caved and picked up their first loss of the season against TCU.
Both Texas and Oklahoma have been inconsistent on both sides of the ball and both fan bases should be irate. The Longhorns have not started 3-0 since 2012 and will now their faithful fans will have to wait another year to achieve said goal that, for a program like Texas, should not be that hard. On the flip side, the Sooners followed up their loss to Kansas State, with another disappointing loss at the hands of Iowa State who list earlier in the season to Louisiana.
The Big 12 is in trouble, and not just this year. Both Texas and Oklahoma need to be good and more than just competitive if this conference wants to be taken seriously when it comes to certain playoff talks, and given these two teams’ most recent performances, the Big 12 is without a doubt the weakest conference of the Power Five conferences. They are the NFC East of college football.
This game will come down to who really wants it the most. Either the Sooners will get back to .500 and show Texas and the rest of the conference that the last two weeks were just off-games, or the Longhorns are going to take advantage of a situation handed on a silver player to them and keep their conference title hopes alive.

Prediction: I do not know what it is but something is going on in Norman. The Sooners’ performance the past two weeks has been completely out of the norm and no one can seem to figure out why. For the Longhorns’, they should hope TCU wins out and makes that loss a little bit more reasonable given the pregame smack that was talked before. Also, Tom Herman has not been worth the price paid. This will be your typical Red River Rivalry game with lots of excitement and plenty of outstanding calls by Gus Johnson but without really anything on the line except bragging rights and dignity. I’m going Texas in this one because Oklahoma seemed to be gasping for air at this point.
