Ezekiel Elliott scored a touchdown shortly after Dak Prescott was carted off the field, using his celebration to honor the fallen QB.

Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott charged into the endzone, throwing the ball forcefully against the wall behind the endzone.

Then he turned to the camera that caught it all and flashed a four-finger salute.

The fingers weren’t for the quarter (it was the third). They weren’t for the number of scores he had on Sunday (it was his second touchdown). They were for his quarterback, No. 4 Dak Prescott.

It was the most fitting way for Elliott to pay tribute to Prescott, who had just been carted off the field with a gnarly ankle injury.

Elliott and Prescott have been teammates in Dallas since they were both drafted in 2016. The former was the No. 4 overall pick while Prescott didn’t hear his name called until the fourth round. The number four is everywhere.

Together, Elliott and Prescott have been central figures for the Cowboys in recent years, more than justifying those draft selections.

The touchdown was a critical one for the Cowboys. They were in the middle of a tight battle with the New York Giants and clinging to a narrow 24-23 lead.

Elliott’s score gave them a little bit of breathing room at 31-23.

Unfortunately for Elliott, it wasn’t the touchdown that put the Giants away once and for all. New York went on to score 11 points in the fourth quarter to lead 34-31 late.

The Cowboys are looking to improve on their 1-3 record in 2020 while the Giants are still looking for their first win of the season. As bad as those win-loss totals are, both teams are still in contention for the NFC East because the Eagles and Washington Football Team haven’t accomplished more than one win either.
