Melvin Gordon doesn’t sound happy about the Broncos-Patriots game getting postponed

Melvin Gordon is known for letting his feeling fly on social media. On Sunday, perhaps he was more speaking from the hearts of fans found in Broncos’ country as a whole.

The NFL announced Sunday morning that the Patriots-Broncos game would be postponed from Monday and moved to next Sunday after a new positive case of COVID19 was reported. New England, who recently saw quarterback Cam Newton and cornerback Stephon Gilmore test positive, originally was supposed to play host Sunday afternoon before more positive tests earlier this week.

Gordon, who signed a two-year, $16 million deal this offseason with Denver, took to Twitter to vent his frustration of a week that could have been used for rehab instead went to more toll on the body.

Sunday becomes the second game of the NFL season in which a team will not play due to the concerns surrounding COVID19. Last week, the Tennessee Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers did not play after a massive outbreak at the Titans facility between multiple players. Much like Tennessee, New England won’t have to move many games around as their bye came in Week 6. The Broncos, who were scheduled to play Miami, will see their season flipped upside down.

In a way, one could understand Gordon’s frustration. A full week of practice for an already injured-riddled team might cause concerns for the remainder of the season. Instead, the players that were on the field took a beating all for nothing, only to rebound the following week and change their game plan once more. Also, it’s too New England, the one team that seems to get a pass for everything even in the post-Tom Brady era.

For the season, Gordon has tallied 281 yards on 61 carries and scored three touchdowns.

Before Sunday’s decision, the Patriots had three straight days of negative tests. Perhaps the biggest test of all will be how pissed Gordon runs over one of the league’s top defense’s when given his chance next weekend.
