Don’t get in Ozzie Albies’ way, for the love of God

The Dodgers entered the top of the ninth inning tied at one run apiece with the Atlanta Braves. Oh, how much can change in the span of an hour.

After Austin Riley gave the Braves the lead on a monster solo shot to lead off the ninth, Marcell Ozuna tacked on another with an RBI single. With two men on and just as many outs, Ozzie Albies had a chance to deliver a knockout blow in Game 1. He did just that, but not before a little controversy, which included staring down to the first base umpire over a controversial call.

Rather than focus solely on how he’d been supposedly wronged, Albies decided to take matters into his own hands. The Braves second baseman hit a no-doubter from the right side of the plate to give Atlanta a 5-1 lead that they would not relinquish against the top team in the NL.

The Dodgers are a formidable foe, and this series is far from over. But if the Braves are getting breaks such as these, perhaps they’re a team of destiny after all. Albies’ entire home run sequence was bonkers, including Mark Melancon catching the ball as it went over the fence without moving a muscle.

That shouldn’t be possible, but it happened, all in one swing from Albies.
