Chase Claypool had the game of his life on Sunday against the Eagles.

Let it be known that there were dozens of NFL scouts who questioned if a 6-4, 230 pound receiver with 4.4 speed would be able to play in the pros. After slipping in the draft and falling to the second round, former Notre Dame star Chase Claypool took all of four games with the Pittsburgh Steelers to cement his status as a potential star in this league.

Claypool managed seven catches for 110 yards and three touchdowns as a receiver while adding a fourth touchdown on a rushing play in a close win against Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles.

In an interview with FanSided, Claypool almost couldn’t believe that he was able to be so productive in his fourth career NFL game, but he puts that down to the work and preparation he puts in every week.

Chase Claypool said that everything “came together” last week.

“You can never really predict getting four touchdowns in a game,” Claypool said. “However, the are times where you’re like ‘I could’ve scored here or I could’ve scored there.’ Thankfully, this past weekend it all came together.”

Claypool, who has come to be known as “Mapletron” due to his Canadian heritage, made mention of how “easy” it was to form a bond with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, adding that he thinks it’ll keep getting stronger throughout the season. Claypool insists that fellow wideouts JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Washington took him under his wing and have helped him adjust to the pro game.

Pittsburgh has used their atypical sabbatical from the postseason to load up on talent on both sides of the ball, and the selection of Claypool has already proven to be a game-changer that can help them take down teams like the Eagles.
