NFL DFS Bargain Bin: Week 6 Sunday Slates Quarterbacks
Kirk Cousins, MIN vs. ATL ($6,100-DK/$7,100-FD)
There is admittedly always one concern with rostering Cousins, and that’s his typically capped number of pass attempts. His 39 attempts in Week 5 against the Seahawks are much more exception than rule, considering Cousins hadn’t topped 27 in any of his previous four games. However, just as the game environment against Seattle called for Cousins to take on an additional workload, the combination of the Falcons’ strong run defense, injury-hampered secondary and ability to potentially keep pace with Minnesota could lead to one of Cousins’ busier games.
The Falcons are allowing the most DK (33.1) and FD (30.5) points per game to quarterbacks, while also seeing a robust average of 40.6 passes per game to be attempted against them. Atlanta is also yielding an elevated 72.9 percent completion rate and ranks in the bottom five in yards per drive (42.1) and points per drive (3.0) allowed. Meanwhile, the Falcons are frustrating running backs by yielding 3.8 yards per rush to the position — thereby funneling teams to the air — and there’s a chance Dalvin Cook (groin) is sidelined for Minnesota in this contest, which would potentially put more on Cousins and the air attack.
Ryan Tannehill, TEN vs. HOU ($5,900-DK/$7,300-FD)
Tannehill authored the latest successful chapter in his Titans career Tuesday night against a quality opponent in the Bills, lighting up Buffalo for three touchdown passes and a fourth one on the ground. Tannehill has opened the season with an impressive 68.9 percent completion rate and 9:1 TD:INT, leading to averages of 23.2 DK/22.3 FD points per contest. Moreover, in addition to his exploits through the air, he’s also averaging an impressive 5.1 yards per rush.
Tannehill posted a 106.0 quarterback rating and five total touchdowns (four passing, one rushing) against the Texans last season, and Houston comes having allowed a 68.7 percent completion rate and a 9:0 TD:INT to quarterbacks over the first five games. While the Texans’ considerable issues defending the run could certainly lead to plenty of reliance on Derrick Henry for Tennessee, Tannehill should have his fair share of opportunities to attack through the air, and Houston’s own solid passing attack could also force coach Mike Vrabel to have the offense keep its foot on the gas for a good portion of the contest.
