Only 15 college football teams remain undefeated among those that have played. Predicting when each team will suffer their first loss of the 2020 season.

Entering Week 7 of the 2020 college football season, there were 16 teams that had yet to suffer a loss among those that had played at least one game this year. But in the first game of the week — albeit a rescheduled contest — that number dropped to 15 as Coastal Carolina handed Louisiana-Lafayette their first loss of the year. One-by-one, teams have been dropping this season.

That’s not surprising, though. Executing a perfect season in college football is an extremely difficult task in its own right under normal circumstances. With the complications created by COVID-19, it has to feel near impossible to accomplish.

Subsequently, we should expect to see that group of 15 dwindle with each passing week — and continue further to dwindle from the Big Ten, Pac-12 and Mountain West when those teams begin.

When are the remaining undefeated college football teams going to lose?

After the Louisiana-Lafayette loss to start Week 7, the 15 remaining undefeated teams in college football that have played a game are as follows: Air Force Falcons, Alabama Crimson Tide, BYU Cougars, Cincinnati Bearcats, Clemson Tigers, Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, Florida Atlantic Owls, Georgia Bulldogs, Houston Cougars, Liberty Flames, Marshall Thundering Herd, North Carolina Tar Heels, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oklahoma State Cowboys and SMU Mustangs.

Among that group is National Championship contenders, Group of 5 surprise teams, potential national sleepers and others that fall somewhere in-between. Given the mixed bag among those teams and the unique situation that this 2020 season has put every team in, it’s even harder to predict when teams will lose and what it will take for them to taste defeat.

Having said that, we’re going to make those exact predictions here. Going through the remaining undefeated teams in the country that have started their seasons, this is when each of them will suffer their first loss of the year.
