Dansby Swanson blasted a home run to give his Braves a 2-0 early in the Game 7 showdown against the Dodgers

The Atlanta Braves got the scoring started early with a Marcell Ozuna RBI single in the first inning against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Sunday’s NLCS Game 7. The opener Dustin May was pulled by Dave Roberts after the inning and Tony Gonsolin came in to provide some stability.

Dansby Swanson decided to keep the scoring going by hitting an absolute blast well over 400 feet to give the Braves an early 2-0 lead.

Dansby Swanson keeps the runs coming

This ball was clearly a home run the second it left the bat. The Braves went up 2-0 and Dodgers fans may have been left wondering if Roberts was about to let his pitching decisions ruin another shot at a World Series title.

But Gonsolin got out of the inning without allowing another run and a 2-0 deficit after two innings isn’t terrible. What Dansby’s homer does show is the power the Braves have all throughout the lineup. He is batting sixth one day after getting three hits in a Game 6 defeat.

This was only Dansby’s third home run this season and it came at the perfect time. Having your number six hitter go off is quite the bonus from a lineup that doesn’t have a weak spot now that MLB came to its senses and installed the universal DH rule.

The Dodgers have shown the ability to go off in this series on offense so the 2-0 lead will need to be increased. Perhaps Swanson is only getting warmed up.
